Boredom Impossible in Memphis

While it is certainly unfortunate, the fact is that many vacation spots are either designed and built for children or for adults—almost never for both. It may be true that such places offer options for both adults and children but both groups are rarely happy with the results. One way or another, the adults either end up spending the majority of their vacation traversing from children's hot spot to the next or the kids become lost in a maze of boring choices and spend the majority of the vacation wandering about looking for anything to relieve their boredom.

Memphis, Tennessee, however, is not such a place. In Memphis, there really is plenty to do for both the adults and the children so that both groups will be happy. Whether the family is into rides and parks or prefers to take their fun outdoors for things like hiking, biking and other activities, there is sure to be plenty for everyone to do.

Taking a ride down the Mississippi River is a memorable and enjoyable experience for both children and the adults. It’s a quite an adventure to people of all ages to trace the Mississippi River up to its origin. All said The Mississippi River provides a cherish-able vacation spot for the family.

If you are a history buff, you will fall in love with the sheer possibilities that a trip to Memphis offers its visitors. You can have a look at the Memphis Belle, the infamous bomber. A visit to this historic and vibrant city will bring back scenes from the Hollywood movie called Memphis Belle to your mind.

A visit to Graceland, that mansion made so famous by the King of rock and roll, Elvis Presley is the high point of a visit to Memphis. This mansion has been preserved delicately to reflect all the details of the time when Elvis was alive. Taking part in the candlelight vigil at Graceland every 16th of August marking the death anniversary of Elvis is quite an event that draws millions of pilgrims even today.

Heard of a group of ducks taking a ride down the elevator for a feed at the grounds? That’s the famous Peabody Hotel which has dedicated its roof as a home for these spoilt ducks. This spectacle, which happens around 10 am each day, is a sight to remember for both adults and kids. This hotel is a popular spot for tourists and local big shots that visit the hotel very frequently.

Libertyland Amusement park is a popular spot with children that is also closely located to entertainment spots that cater to the adults of the family. This place is reputed for its vintage 1909 carousel and does provide other popular entertainment such as midway games, rides and such other shows. Weather not permitting a visit to a park, the Children’s Museum of Memphis deserves a visit for entertaining and educational displays that are likely to keep the children highly absorbed.

And honestly, the list just goes on and on. The fact remains that Memphis is one of those rare places where absolutely everyone can find something exciting to do. Before you plan your next trip to the Memphis area, be sure to check into the wide assortment of activities offered by this exciting town before trying to decide which ones to see this year, and which ones to visit when you return—and believe me, you will return!
