It is important for dog owners to understand that maintaining proper dog health requires much of the same care that humans do. Just as small children must grow and learn to adjust to their environment, small puppies and even older dogs must do the same. These animals must be taught right from wrong and conditioned to behave and react in the manner in which we prefer. They cannot have the instinctive knowledge that it requires to automatically understand what is expected of them. However, there are many common symptoms that are present in most cases of this type of stress in these pets, and they are: • Many dogs develop the behavior of barking consistently if their owners are not present. This is one of the main symptoms of anxiety. • Many dogs may show outward and apparent signs that they are in emotional and physical distress when their owners must leave them. This dog behavior may be so severe that the owner has complications simply getting the mail, or going into another room. This is a distinguished symptom of severe anxiety. • Many pets have actually injured themselves due to the fact that they experience high levels of stress when their owners are not present. It is not unlikely for a dog owner to find that the pet has bitten themselves, broke glass to escape, and other similar behaviors if they suffer from separation anxiety. •Many animals who have separation anxiety exihibit the dog behavior of chewing belongings in the home, such as shoes and furniture. Due to the results of the symptoms of this type of anxiety, many dog owners become frustrated. Instead of approaching your pet with frustration, approach them very calmly and with a sense of love. A visit to the veterinarian may be a good idea. Your dog may need a medication to calm his attitude. The vterinarian may also be able to provide you with some information on how to handle the issues in your pets behavior. Many dog owners face the complication of overly excited pets that consistently jump up frequently. If this is a dog behavior that you find being a common occurrence, and you are not keen on the idea, it is essential that you gently persuade an alternative behavior by being loving and gentle. Many dogs see this as a sign of their excitement to see you, and their love for you. In order for you to encourage a more acceptable behavior, follow the guidelines listed below: If the dog reacts in an appropriate manner, it is important to ensure that you encourage and reward dog behavior as you deem appropriate. If you see that the dog is about to jump up, it is important that you take a step back and instruct the animal to sit. While this should not be said in a loud or negative way, it is imperative that it is said in a firm way. If you find that the basic behavior reward system fails to work as appropriate, then it is important to review basic skills, such as sitting. Positive behavioral changes can take place in your dog by following these few easy steps. With a large amount of dedication and patience and showing your pet the same amount of love that you would show for a child or another human, the result should be very successful. The level of effort you put into dog training will be well worth the effort.
