There are many reasons why people want to gain weight. Some people want to gain weight because they are dissatisfied with their body image while other people want to gain weight for health reasons. Before you begin any weight gain program it is important that you understand how weight gain and weight loss works. Your family history will play a big part in the type of body build that you have. We all inherit genes from our parents that have a role in determining just what body type we will have. If you eat a high calorie diet but still seem to have difficulty gaining weight just take a look at other members in your family. Chances are you aren't the only one who is under weight. It may be difficult for your body to put on weight when you are fighting a health issue. However, by working closely with your doctor you should be able to gain some weight so that you can increase your muscle mass. If you are under weight due to recent weight loss that was unintentional you might be feeling tired and lethargic. Check with your doctor to see if there is a health issue that caused your weight loss. If you make a conscious effort to restrict and control how much you eat you might have an eating disorder. Again, your doctor can talk to you about what a healthy weight is about and can help you find help with your eating disorder. Healthy people who are slender generally are in balance with their bodies and what they eat. Your normal weight is determined by your body type and by the genes that you have inherited from your parents. If you and your doctor determine that you are under weight and need to gain weight you'll have to alter the way you eat. Make sure that you plan a well balanced diet that is high in proteins and carbohydrates while at the same time is low in fat. You want the weight that you can to be in the form of muscle rather than fat. Fat gain leads to an unhealthy body with just as many health risks as when you are under weight. Another reason that people often want to gain is weight is that they are dissatisfied with their body image. People who are very thin may feel that they will look better if they are a heavier weight. Many times these people have a very fast metabolism and no matter they eat they never seem to put on any weight. Athletes may want to gain weight and build up their muscles so they can put more performance into their sport. All of the above reasons are sound and legitimate reasons for gaining weight. The thing to remember is that you gain weight the right way by eating a healthy diet with a balanced food plan. If you want to gain weight but have a high percentage of body fat you'll want a diet plan with a nutrient ratio of 40% or 50% of protein. This type of diet plan is good for men you have more than 15% body fat and women whose body fat is more than 25%.If you want to gain weight not only do you need to cut back on your cardio workout you also need to focus on the strength training aspects of your workout.
