One of the worlds most beautiful places, Bali holds an unparalleled mystique anyone who loves the culture of the south pacific. It is filled with luscious scenery, if you're looking for an unforgettable trip abroad you will find nothing to disappoint you in Bali. Many people like to take guided tours of Bali. The locals know better than anyone where the best spots for travel are located, and they know how popular these areas have been with foreign tourists. Here are some things you might want to make sure your guided tour in Bali offers. Ubud Monkey Park If wildlife, an in particular monkeys, interest you then you may well want to check out the monkey park in Ubud. You can feed the monkeys small pieces of fruit, purchased at the entrance, and or simply wander around the park. Bear in mind, though, that although they may sometimes act very human they are still animals and you need to be careful. Still, the habitat is extremely well done and the scenery is beautiful. Pura Luhur Uluwatu A "directional temple", the Uluwatu temple was created to defend Bali from evil spirits that might attack from the south west. It has a great deal of importance in local festivals and rituals, and is surrounded by a number of other ornate and beautiful temples. The temple itself was founded in the 1100s, although the surrounding temples weren't built until the seventeenth century. Batur Volcano Still slightly active, the Batur volcano is a sight to see. It's caldera alone is some 10 kilometers across, and about 450 meters deep. Said to be the throne of the Goddess Danu, the Batur volcano is shrouded in legend and a huge draw for visitors. Definitely something to see, and be sure to bring your camera! Barong Dance Although there is no exact meaning for "Barong," the word is still used to define a dance in which animals are represented by masks of the dancers. For instance, in the Barong Macan (tiger) there are masks of the tiger. The Barong itself is a long, curved creature of mythology that serves to protect man, good spirits, and other positive aspects. No doubt you will probably find your own favorite place to go in Bali, but remember that there are lots of people out there who have jobs taking advantage of tourists! Be careful and be informed before you go and you will have no nasty surprises. Turn down free merchandise and services--they will expect something in return.
