Getting a pet is great for kids and adults alike. That being said, a certain responsibility comes with owning a pet. To make sure things go well, consider the following tidbits of advice.

1. Puppy Chewing Furniture – If you have a new puppy and he or she is chewing your furniture, you can use a homemade remedy. Rub a little oil of cloves on the areas being chewed. It is bitter and will make them stop.

2. Feeding Cats Lobster – If you are munching on lobster, don’t give it to your cat. Lobster with butter on it can block up their intestines.

3. Removing Burrs in Dog Fur – Dogs inevitably get all kinds of things in their fir. With burrs, the first step is to smash them with pliers. Next, rub oil into the fur and then pull the burr out.

4. Get A Little Air – Pets are like humans. They need to get outside and stop hanging around the house. Take your pet with you when you can.

5. Giving Aspirin to Cats – Aspirin is a wonder drug, but don’t give it to cats. They react really poorly to it and it can even kill them.

6. Prevent Dog Fleas – To prevent your dog getting fleas, you need to employee the power of yeast. Give your dog yeast pills with their food and it will keep the fleas off.

7. Pain Killer Misunderstandings – Just because your pet is now on painkillers does not mean he is back to normal. The medication is relieving the pain, not curing the problem. Don’t assume they are ready to be active again.

8. Nocturnal Pets – When getting pets for kids, make sure they are not nocturnal. Dogs and cats are fine, but other common pets are only active at night.

9. One Pet or Two – If you don’t have kids, you need to give some thought to getting a pet. Won’t it be bored all day when you are at work? You might want to get two so they can keep each other company.

10. Pets Pulling Skateboards – Dogs inevitably end up as sled dogs if your kids have skateboards. You should know the leash is strangling them. Get a brace that goes around their chest instead.

Ultimately, owning a pet almost always works out for the best. The only time there are problems is if you don’t understand your pet or fail to take care of it. If you want to play with your pet during the day, don’t by one that is naturally active at night!
