eBayers love listings with pictures. I don't think it would be too bold a statement to say that pictures can make you stand head and shoulders above any competitor in any market. The reason is people are now programmed to look for visual conformation of the information provided and if it's missing you will lose your prospective customer in the click of a mouse. Ok so it takes a bit longer to put up a listing with photo's but the rewards can be massive. The use of pictures is important in ninety nine out of hundred times you use them and the higher the value of your item perceived or otherwise the more important the use of a visual image (photo) is to your success. The biggest reason pictures are so effective is they show that you are professional and knowledgeable and that you care about your cusomers. The fact is when you bother to present your customers a quality image it implies that everything else in your business will be done to the same high standard. It indicates to them, maybe only on a subconscious level that your customer service, and everything about your business is of a high standard and a higher quality than that of your rivals who don't bother. The use of digital photo's gives our customer the confidence they need to make a buying decision, they feel they can almost touch the item and it makes their owning it feel more more real. This is always preferable to something that they can only picture in their mind with your written description, which is all they will have to make a decision on without a photograph to illustrate your item. A photo makes your auction stand out. When your picture is displayed on the search results screen, people can see your item right there in front of them even before they read your title. The vast majority only have so much time to spend on eBay maybe after work or in a lunch break and a compelling picture will grab their attention much quicker and they will be more inclined to pay a higher price than they would with a poor listing without pictures. So what could you do to make sure your pictures really do their job and bring in more sales and higher prices for your advertised items. I have given you a few pointers which should help .. Overwhelm them with images rather than just 1-2 .Although eBay might want to charge you for every image you use in your auction listing if you use your own webspace and get your own web hosting then you can add as many pictures as you like for nothing. All you need to do is take as many pictures as is appropriate for your eBay item listing and then add them using simple HTML code. I understand that the thought of adding images to your own web space has probably sent you in to a blind panic but it really is not that difficult to do. But if you are not comfortable with this you can find video's all over the net and on my blog at http://www.auctionwealthsecrets.com/auctionnews .If that still leads you cold you can usually find a college kid or even your own kids will be able to do this for a few bucks for you. Take better pictures. Use an image-editing program to touch up your pictures. There are plenty of choices -Ifranview (www.ifranview.com) is good, and free. Adjust things like brightness and contrast to make sure that buyers get the best view of your items. I personally use Adobe Photoshop but this can be quite expensive and maybe not needed until you have mastered other aspects of your eBay auctions first. Improve your photography. In the online world you need to use a digital camera both for convenience and quality of images. Even a high end 35mm film will not hold a candle to a cheap digital camera image wise. But taking a good photo is about attention to detail look at your background and aim to get a clear image of your item with out distracting from your product. If you are learning from scratch about photography a lightly single coloured table cloth against a white background is good for starters. I personally use a white or light coloured sheet as a back drop. For lighter items a dark blue or black background will also work well.Be inventive and look at other auctions that attract your attention and how they have taken photo's. In a later article I will be looking at how you can take this technique one step further by using digital video which is now starting to take off on eBay and all over the internet.
